Chukauni Recipe: By Joshi N.

 

Ingredients:

1.      Potato (Preferably Mustang Potato)

2.      Onion

3.      Green Chilly

4.      Coriander Leaves

5.      Sweet Curd

6.      Turmeric Powder

7.      Salt

8.      Chilly powder

9.      Fenugreek seeds (Methi)

10.  Green Peas (Matar)

11.  Vegetable Oil

 

Recipe:

 

1.      Boil 8 pieces of potatoes until it is cooked properly. Peel its outer layers. Chop them into four pieces (divide equally into four pieces: it looks visually appealing).

2.      Whisk 300 ml of sweet curd (if the curd is not sweet you can add sugar to make it sweet). Pour half glass of water (regular sized water glass) into it and whisk for a while.

3.      Boil green peas for 3 minutes (as fresh green peas are already ready to eat raw, but boiling it for few minutes will enhance the taste. If you like it raw green peas you can directly add it with out boiling)

4.      Cut one onion into fine pieces (do not make it cube but semi circle. I hope you got it).

5.      Cut green chilies into two halves from long edges (You can add chilies according to your choice).

6.      Now, in a big bowl add cut potatoes, onion, boiled peas, whisked curd, some chilly powder, salt according to your taste and mix them all.

7.      To the top add green cut chillies, 1/3rd table spoon of turmeric powder and set aside.

8.      Now, heat a pan and put 3-4 table spoon of vegetable oil. After a minute add 7-8 methi seeds until it turns black.

9.      Then, pour the hot oil into the chukauni mixture.

10.  Mix them all.

11.  Serve it in your favorite plate or bowl.

12.  Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

13.  Now, your Chukauni is ready to devour in your taste buds.

 

You can serve Chukauni with bitten rice, puffed rice, rice, pulau or alone. It is perfect anyhow.
